Employees are the most important assets of an organisation because they are the critical deciding factor that spearheads the organisation’s success or failure. Having a disciplined workforce is a critical success factor for higher productivity and meeting organizational goals and objectives including its effectiveness in a competitive environment. Therefore, it becomes vital and imperative for Heads of Departments and line managers to identify and handle instances of misconduct including conducting an effective domestic inquiry for the purpose of establishing whether employees have committed any misconduct. Dismissal of an employee must withstand the scrutiny of the Industrial Court and therefore it is essential that a proper domestic inquiry be held before dismissals are contemplated.
Issues on misconduct and discipline of employees have been an age old problem faced by employers, regardless of the context.

Methodology

The workshop is highly participative and practical, with extensive individual and group exercises. The trainer will lead particular sessions with both concurrently supervising interactive activities. Lectures will be reinforced with practical application, role-playing and training games.

Trainer Profile

Atan Mustaffa Yussof LL.B (Bristol), MBA (Exeter), 
Certificate in Training Pratice (CIPD)
Atan Mustaffa holds an LL.B from the University of Bristol, an MBA from the University of Exeter and the Certificate in Training Practice from the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD). He is currently an advocate and solicitor who is an active industrial relations practioner. He regularly appears in the Industrial Court representing both employers and employees and is very familiar with the law on domestic inquiry.
He also has had previous experience working in the corporate sector and has served in a number of strategic roles including training and development. 
Today he combines his experience and knowledge in law with professional training skills to deliver high quality legal training to the corporate sector.
His deeper appreciation of HR issues comes from being both a legal practioner on employment issues and having worked as a manager in the corporate sector. He brings a well-balanced insight on conducting domestic inquiries covering legal aspects within a strategic framework that places value on human capital.
In the 8 years as an employment law trainer, Atan has trained executives and managers from over 100 organisations to develop their competencies in Employment Law and Industrial Relations. Besides conducting training for the public, he has trained for organisations including Felda, Pos Malaysia, Bank Muamalat, Media Prima and Shapadu Group of Companies. Atan is currently one of the trainers of Triple A Training. He also consults for several other training providers.
Atan’s ambition is to develop competent and knowledgeable industrial relations professionals to create better industrial relations between employers and employees. He is inspired and encouraged by the positive feedback of his participants and happy that he is finally touching real lives.
